Rework, by Jason Fried and David Heinemeier Hansson has been a game changer for me and for our organization. It is packed full of quick and concise chapters filled with helpful information, tips and ideas that will help any business. Titled ‘Rework’ because it turns business as we know it today on its head and tells us things like, “ASAP is poison”, “Underdo your competition”, “Meetings are toxic”, “Pick a fight”, “Planning is guessing”, “Fire the workaholics” and much more.
The beauty of this book is that it takes what Jason and David have learned at 37Signals over the years which has made them so successful. It is not theory or academia, it is down to earth, this is what is takes and here is why. Also, they talk about things that you can immediately change and immediately see the positive results of those changes.
Another thing I like about the book is that they don’t beat a dead horse. They state their point and give just the right amount of explanation and/or examples and then they move on. That makes each chapter even richer since they get to point so you can get on with your life and on with making your own business successful.
I highly recommend this book as I know it will make you think and hopefully it will also entice you to act.
